Gamers Outreach VTuber Summer Slam 2026
Sometimes I wonder why things are more complicated than they have to be. I have donated to Gamers Outreach in the past, multiple times, so I obviously receive their newsletter. I also follow some VTubers, some are great musicians, some voice actors, some are just entertaining and happen to play the niche of games I enjoy watching on the side. Some are, according to my wife, "absolutely unhinged and need to be kept away from children" (one of them she said that about is a mother of four). (Note from wife: I do not remember saying that, but he does indeed enjoy his vtubers on the slightly unhinged side!)
So when I got the mail from Gamers Outreach that there is a VTuber Summer Slam ongoing I thought I will check out who is involved, pick one or two on the bottom end of the leaderboard and donate $50 or so. I always appreciate when small streamers, as in 5, 10 or 50 viewers join initiatives like this and want to support them. They are clearly streaming out of passion. Some might grow and hopefully keep using their platform to support good causes.
But it feels like Gamers Outreach completely missed the mark this year. I received a link to the announcement blog post. So we got a hashtag. And a Tiltify page. And a Discord. You know what I do not have? A link to the creators. Nowhere. When browsing Tiltify you can at least find the names. But looking at their profiles, no links to their socials or streams. Some not even with a stated goal.
Here is the thing - if you stream as a hobby and want to support a good cause I am all for it. Please do more of that. But somewhere between Gamers Outreach, Tiltify and a streamers donation page I would love to see a bit more... everything. I never ran a campaign on Tiltify, I only used the platform to donate to campaigns, so I do not even know if it is possible to add more information.
But somewhere between all parties involved it should be possible to setup a list of links without asking people to join a Discord, copy and paste names into a search engine or try to find tags on a platform that does not respect or care for the creators (hey Twitch - just in case anyone was wondering).
Again, I very much love the work and appreciate everyone who is helping. I am writing these lines as constructive critique on how I think campaigns like this could be improved in future. And I very much hope they will. Even if we only get a handful more people to donate it is absolutely worth the effort. The second reason is that I am fairly certain not everyone reading my blog heard about Gamers Outreach, follows VTubers or knows about this campaign. Now you do. You know what to do next, if you can. Please. Thank you!
